Any input would be greatly appreciated.

listed company and status? Does finding a job in a listed company on NYSE or Nasdaq have any social status in US? In my country, Japan, finding a job in a listed company on Tokyo Stock Exchange or others has some sort of social status because it promises you high salary and stable employment. Should the news be charged with negligence in this situation? The December 16th 1997 episode of Pocket Monsters on TV Tokyo (Channel 12) created massive hysteria as hundreds of Japanese children suffered seizures while watching a 5 second long bright flashing light segment of the show. Nintendo stock was frozen on the Tokyo stock exchange after dropping about 500 yen when the stock opened Dec 17th. Additional children were stricken while watching the TV news reports of the incident. TV stations showed the 5 second flashing segment thought to be reponsible for the problem with their news coverage. Another batch of children (those watching the news ) were then struck. (maybe that wasn't such a good idea???) Full printing here: http://www.virtualpet.com/vp/farm/pmonster/seizures/seizures.htm

Is the long predicted US economic crash here or just another bump in the road? http://www.foxbusiness.com/article/world-markets-tumble-economy-fears_443535_49.html TOKYO -- Stocks fell sharply worldwide Monday following declines on Wall Street last week amid investor pessimism over the U.S. government's stimulus plan to prevent a recession. U.S. markets were closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but the downbeat mood from last week's market declines there circled through Europe, Asia and Canada. The U.K. benchmark FTSE-100 dropped 4.7% to 5,625.20; France's CAC-40 Index plunged 5.9% to 4,793.39, while Germany's blue-chip DAX 30 slumped 6.74% to 6,821.42. In Asia, India's benchmark stock index tumbled 7.4%, while Hong Kong's blue-chip Hang Seng index plummeted 5.5% to 23,818.86, its biggest percentage drop since the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. Canadian stocks fell as well, with the S&P/TSX composite index on the Toronto Stock Exchange down 4.8%. In Brazil, stocks plunged 6.9% on the main index of Sao Paulo's Bovespa exchange. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/business_markets_canada_stocks_col TORONTO (Reuters) - The Toronto Stock Exchange's main index fell for a fifth straight session on Monday, diving more than 4 percent in its biggest intraday drop in seven years, amid concern about the health of the U.S. economy. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Crime/2007/12/21/4735871-sun.html By KATHLEEN HARRIS, NATIONAL BUREAU OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Stephen Harper is warning Canadians to brace for fiscal belt-tightening as a looming economic collapse in the U.S. threatens to make waves north of the border. http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0111fbi-phonebills0111.html Jan. 11, 2008 12:00 AM WASHINGTON - Telephone companies have cut off FBI wiretaps used to eavesdrop on suspected criminals because of the bureau's repeated failures to pay phone bills on time. A Justice Department audit released Thursday blamed the lost connections on the FBI's lax oversight of money used in undercover investigations. In one office alone, unpaid costs for wiretaps from one phone company totaled $66,000. In at least one case, a wiretap used in a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act investigation "was halted due to untimely payment," the audit found. FISA wiretaps are used in the government's most sensitive and secretive criminal and intelligence investigations, and allow eavesdropping on suspected terrorists or spies
How can someone in the US trade on the london, HK, Tokyo, Dubai and of course Shanghai markets? All the online stockbroker sites seem to only deal with NASDEQ stocks from 9:30 am to 4:00 PM. But what about the rest of the world. I know Shanghai is the second largest stock exchange in the world. I know Japan is the second largest economy in the world too so the Nikkei must be pretty big too. How can I start playing those markets? I know I am just a noob right now but the US alone bores me especially when I am up at night and forex is a little too dangerous for noobs.

Is there any online stock screener that tells which US stocks also trade in overseas exchanges? I'm looking for an online stock screener or filter service (preferably free) that would tell me which stocks that are mainly traded in the US markets (NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX), also trade on international exchanges (London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, etc.) Also, I'd like to find a way to know the opposite; ie. stocks that mainly trade in overseas exchanges that also have presence in US exchanges. Any help is greatly appreciated.
what exactly is meant by ''the City?''? Does the phrase refer literally to a square mile in London, or any job in banking/finance? Does someone have to work for particular banks/stockbrokers, etc, to say they work in the City? Does it mean those who work for traders speculating on the stock exchange? Canit mean in New York, Tokyo, etc, or just London? If you worked for Citibank or someone similar in Leeds or Manchetser, would you work 'in the City?' What about Canary Wharf? When banks move their premises outside the square mile, is it still 'the City?'
